Nurture by Nature is a new collectible design gallery founded by interior designer and fourth-generation Vermonter Kate Swanson. Rooted in the belief that craft is the new luxury, the gallery celebrates the artistry, creativity, and human connection behind every piece.

Located in Karma Bird House a restored brick building on Burlington’s waterfront, the space was designed to feel warm, collaborative, and deeply personal - an extension of Swanson’s ethos that design is about people as much as objects.

The inaugural exhibition, Unknown Friends (Sept 4–Oct 30, 2025, by appointment), features collectible furniture, lighting, and objects by 15 Northeast makers, each exploring ideas of memory, recognition, and place. From hand-crafted furniture to sculptural ceramics, every work reflects the unique voices shaping New England’s creative community.

With Nurture by Nature, Swanson aims to connect artists, designers, and collectors while putting Vermont’s blossoming design scene on the map.
